The vision of Old Greenwood is one of an active, year-round resort village built with care and sensitivity through architecture and landscape that reflects the Lake Tahoe heritage and blends into the natural setting. The Old Greenwood Cabins are 3 and 4-bedroom residences designed to recall the historic mountain camps and retreats, but with luxury finishes and modern open interior spaces. The Cabins are fractional ownership units and are managed to provide seamless hotel-quality services in a quiet, private atmosphere.
Although only two floor plans are used and repeated through mirroring, Zehren modified and varied the exterior architectural forms and materials to create variety, autonomy, and interest from the street and golf course. The exterior designs feature native granite stone, oversized view windows, timber detailing, and rustic trestlewood siding. The location of each Cabin on the property was carefully controlled to minimize or eliminate the need to cut the majestic mature Jeffrey Pine present on the site. Ground disturbance during construction was also minimized to preserve the natural setting.
Each of the Cabins is linked to a central computer via a touch screen control capable of adjusting the settings of the lighting and HVAC control to each owner’s pre-set preferences upon arrival. This control also connects to the concierge, housekeeping, and golf scheduling for fully-customized service.
Zehren also redesigned the Cabins in 2019 to accommodate a more contemporary clientele, for Paradigm Partners, and current phases of the project are currently under construction.
