The Spruce Peak Mountain Cabins are a neighborhood of 38 duplex residences along the flank of Spruce Peak Mountain in Stowe, Vermont. Many of the 3,300-SF homes are located directly on the ski runs, with true ski-in, ski-out convenience. The design of an uphill "Slopeside" residence and a downhill "Viewside" residence help to reduce site disturbance, particularly around sensitive wetlands. These two major plan configurations—along with minor plan variations for each prototype plan—also help to add interest to the neighborhood and broaden the market appeal for the Cabins. The streetscape was also carefully considered, with alternate entry designs developed to add interest to the overall pedestrian experience through Spruce Peak. Zehren and Associates also developed site plan studies that made best use of the site and its natural attributes.
