After working for a civil engineering firm in Cincinnati, where Dave honed skills in drafting and surveying, he found himself desiring a more creative outlet. Architecture was the answer for him to bring vision to reality and to work with all disciplines within the construction process, especially admiring and integrating structural components of architecture. Dave joined Zehren & Associates in 2006, and he now has over 14 years of experience in architecture, drafting, and construction. Dave enjoys design development, whether it is detailing a façade, 3D modeling, or mentoring and training interns.
Dave has worked on many award winning projects while with Zehren & Associates, including on-mountain restaurant The 10th, and Walking Mountains Science Center. Other notable projects include: Manor Vail in Vail, Colorado, Sugar Bowl Sporthaus outside of Truckee, California, La Estancia de Cafayate in Salta, Argentina, Town Farm in Todos Santos, Mexico, Mountain Cabins at Stowe, Vermont, the Taylor Residence in Stowe, Vermont, and the Mulvihill Residence in Palm Orchard Todos Santos, Mexico. Dave has a strong Spanish Colonial design background after working on projects in Argentina and Mexico. Dave is an integral member of any design team. He has the ability to see not only the overall design intent, but also the smaller, finer construction details which make up the entirety of the design. Dave is highly proficient at Computer Aided Drafting and 3D modeling software, with experience taking projects from concept to completion, problem solving, leading teams and projects to success.
Having always wanted to live in a more natural world, surrounding himself with the beauty and power of the high alpine mountains, Dave takes full advantage of the endless adventures right outside his door. He is an avid rock climber with notable ascents including Grand Teton, Wyoming, Castleton Tower, Utah, and Middle Cathedral, Yosemite. Dave also enjoys skiing, ice climbing, fly fishing, and oil painting.
